Autism spectrum disorder is a developmental disorder characterized by difficulties with social interaction, restricted interests and repetitive behaviors. It has attracted significant attention because of its high prevalence, affecting approximately 1 in every 36 people, and symptoms that interfere with daily life. In recent years, genetic mutation analysis of individuals with autism has revealed that Chd8, a chromatin remodeler, is one of the genes most frequently mutated in association with autism.
